Tinctures are absorbed sublingually, so essential cannabinoids are absorbed directly into the bloodstream. Effects are delayed through the absorption process but are prolonged. The application is very discreet, with no odor.
Polaris® oil is to be administered orally. The starting dose is 2.5 mg/kg twice daily (5 mg/kg/day). Patients are recommended to initiate treatment on the evening of Day 1 with 2.5 mg/kg. After 5-7 days, the dose can be gradually increased to 5 mg/kg twice a day (10 mg/kg/day).
Patients who are tolerating Polaris® at 5 mg/kg twice daily and who may benefit from a dosage increase can be further titrated to a maximum recommended maintenance dosage of 10 mg/kg twice daily (20 mg/kg/day). This should be titrated over several weeks, as tolerated. Dosage should not be increased more frequently than every other day.
