Master Kush

About Master Kush

Master Kush is a hybrid unlike many others found today.  A mix contrived through landrace parents, Master Kush is uniquely a tetraploid which makes it hold four times the amount of haplid chromosomes as the common diploid strain.  It is indica dominant, having a percentage of nearly 95% for each yield leaving little sativa left to fill in the cracks.  A favorite amongst medicinal and casual users, the high is described as intense yet the mental state is left clear for most experienced consumers.  This makes the strain great for all day use, though it also has the not so niche effect of easing the body into a state of sedation making it an ample reliever of insomnia and worry.  The effects are fast acting beginning with an increasing sense of relaxation in the body and mind, furthering into a sedated state of ease.

Hailing from Amsterdam, the indica dominant strain became a sweeping sensation throughout California due to multiple award wins and celebrity endorsement.  Strong medical benefits for mental instability and anxiety make the popularity of Master Kush much more established.  Snoop Dogg declared it to be his favorite strain for the everyday cumbersome situation and even used it as a parent to his own strain called Snoop’s Dream, a cross between Master Kush and Blue Dream.

ORIGIN

The origin of Master Kush can be traced back to the Hindu Kush regions of the world.  A cross between Hindu Kush and Skunk #1, the indica dominant strain was created in Amsterdam by the Dutch White Label Seed Company.  Once named High Rise, after the building it was first bred in, the Master Kush strain gained its notoriety through the winning of two consecutive Cannabis Cup awards in 1992 and 1993.  With the endorsement of Snoop Dogg the strain became a must experience and only gained additional fame over the years.

STRAIN TYPE

Master Kush is one of the most indica heavy hybrid strains available.   With high percentages like 95% make the indica relaxation pressure heavy for users though the average seems to be around 70% indica and 30% sativa.  THC content found in the strain are rather large as well averaging at around 16% and with CBD count as low as .1%.  The smell resembles that of citrus, spice, and some heavy traces of fuel undertone.  As for the taste, Master Kush is a balanced earthy flavor with a hint of pine and spice.

Treats

Medical Benefits of Master Kush

Medical treatments Master Kush is utilized for are mostly mental.  It is a fast acting reliever of fear as well as anxiety.  More so, further developed mental disorders such as Bipolar Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder are also able to be treated through the use of Master Kush.  The strain works as a strong sedation medication for the user, through this uplifting sedation the mood is altered slipping quickly into a form of stability that helps to get through life’s difficult segments.  This mood alteration is a huge benefit to those suffering from difficulty in sustained demeanor and general mood stability.  While this is already helpful the strain is a fantastic pain reliever as well.  Master Kush is utilized primarily for chronic pain, sharp maddening slightly intense pain experienced throughout the day, while being less applicable for those suffering from severe pain.

Terpenes

TERPENE PROFILE

The terpene profile of Master Kush is a bit different from others as it does not consist primarily of the common Myrecene.  Master Kush is made up of majorly Humulene and Caryophyllene with the former being much higher than the latter.  This unique profile only adds to the want for such an overtly different experience among cannabis users.

Humulene, the primary terpene found in Master Kush, is responsible for the hop like taste and smell Master Kush produces.  Surprisingly, Humulene does not assist in lack of appetite, but in fact promotes the opposite.  However, despite this, the medical benefits it potentially has vary as far as anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, and Pharmacokinetic.

Caryophyllene, or B- Caryophyllene, is a great highlight for medical benefits found in terpenes.  Primarily located throughout the immune system, the terpene is known to aid in inflammation and acts as a natural pain reliever.  Interestingly, Caryophyllene has also been recognized as a preventative measure for many brain diseases.  Other producers of Caryophyllene include spices and herbs which leaves Master Kush having that spicy flavor and taste.
